Context: Ahead of Independence Day 2025, the Defence Minister met 30 meritorious tribal students from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in New Delhi. They were part of the ‘Aarohan: Dweep to Delhi’ National Integration Tour, organised by the Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC).
What is Aarohan?
- A seven-day National Integration Tour organised by the Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC).
- Focuses on connecting tribal students from remote island communities with India’s cultural, academic, and developmental landscape.
Objectives
- Promote national integration – Bridge cultural and geographic divides.
- Exposure to opportunities – Showcase India’s heritage, modern infrastructure, and higher education avenues.
- Instil belongingness – Inspire tribal youth to see themselves as active participants in nation-building.
Significance
- Social Inclusion – Helps mainstream tribal youth by connecting them with India’s diversity and opportunities.
- Youth Empowerment – Encourages leadership, values, and confidence through exposure visits and interactions.
- Cultural Awareness – Promotes indigenous heritage while introducing modern ideas and institutions.
