The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) is a flagship initiative launched by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to provide 12-month internship opportunities to India’s youth in top 549 companies across 24 sectors.

About the Scheme
Objective:

Progress So Far (2025 Update)
- The second round of PMIS began on January 9, 2025.
- Received over 4.55 lakh applications from 2.14 lakh applicants.
- Partner companies have made 72,000 offers, with 22,800 already accepted.

Eligibility Criteria
- Age: 18–24 years
- Income Limit: Family income not exceeding ₹8 lakh per annum
- Education Qualification:
- ITI: Matriculation + ITI in relevant trade
- Diploma: Intermediate + AICTE-recognized diploma
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree from UGC/AICTE-recognized university
- Employment Status: Unemployed youth only

Step 4: Shortlisting and Selection
- Companies review applications and shortlist candidates.

- Selected candidates complete document verification and online orientation.
