Why in News?
The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) portal has gone live to facilitate registrations under the scheme announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 12th Independence Day address.
About the Scheme
- Approval: Union Cabinet approved the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme on 1st July 2025.
- Outlay: ₹99,446 Crore.
- Job Creation: Targets over 3.5 crore new jobs in India over two years (1st August 2025 – 31st July 2027).
- Focus Sectors: All sectors with special emphasis on manufacturing.
Objectives
- Employment Generation: Promote creation of new jobs.
- Enhance Employability: On-the-job training and skill development.
- Social Security: Formalization of jobs and expansion of social security coverage.
Incentives & Benefits
For Employees:
- Formal employment with social security benefits.
- On-job training to improve employability.
- Financial literacy and sustained employment opportunities.
For Employers:
- Incentives to offset cost of creating new jobs.
- Up to ₹3,000 per month per new employee.
- Incentivize coverage of social security and workforce stability.
Payment Mechanism:
- Employees: Incentives up to ₹15,000 in two instalments via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through Aadhaar Bridge Payment System (ABPS).
- Employers: Payments directly credited to PAN-linked accounts.
How to Register
- Employers can register on the PMVBRY portal:
- First-time employees need to generate Universal Account Number (UAN) using Face Authentication Technology (FAT) on the UMANG App.
Implementation
- Ministry: Labour & Employment.
- Agency: Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), a statutory body under the Employees’ Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.
